Q&A with your local branch manager:
What are some of the most common wildlife issues that homeowners face in your area?
The most common wildlife issues that homeowners face include: rats invading attic and crawl spaces; raccoons invading attics and using swimming pools; beehives within structures or nearby trees; snakes seen on the property; moles tunneling in lawns; armadillos burrowing beneath houses; bats living in attics or under roofing tiles; opossums on property; woodpeckers causing damage to outside molding; frogs heard and seen during the rainy season; a dead animal on the property; and iguanas defecating on decking and screen enclosures, eating from fruit trees, and using pools.
How do the seasons affect wildlife activity in your area?
Most wildlife issues in my area are year-round, with peaks for some animals in certain months. Rats and raccoons seek the warm refuge of attics when temperatures drop. Snake activity tends to increase in the spring when they are reproducing. Bees and iguanas are more active during the warmer months. Woodpeckers are most active in the spring and summer, and bats are open for removal from April 15th – August 15th.
Any prevention tips for residents in your area?
The proper sealing of potential entry points will reduce the chances of an animal invading. Implementation of continued rodent control on the property has proven effective. Trapping to control populations of raccoons and snakes is also a common prevention measure.
When should homeowners call Trutech?
Homeowners should call Trutech for any of the following reasons: Noises heard in the attic or on the roof; animals using the swimming pool; strange droppings showing up on the property, both inside and outside of the home; unexplained holes from digging or burrowing; preventative roof exclusion work; snakes observed on the property; bees heard swarming or a hive is observed; a bad odor possibly from a dead or decaying animal is smelled; and a neighboring property with a problem that has the potential to spread to their property.
