Dear Mr. Olstein:
I am writing to tell you that in my opinion your company's representative in Houston, John Middleton, is one of the unsung heroes of the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. I am a recent customer of Trutech, and frankly had wondered whether a monthly service contract was necessary, now that John has taken care of a problem we had with rats outside of our home.
On the Sunday after Hurricane Ike hit Houston/Galveston, our neighborhood pitched-in to clear the street gutters of a tremendous amount of debris from our old oak trees. As we worked, one of the neighbors reported having seen snakes in the street, and one of my immediate neighbors found two dead mice near her curb. Even though we had braved a three hour onslaught of 100+ MPH winds, none of us felt brave enough to pick up and remove the mice! I offered to call John Middleton.
Monday morning, John came to 'fetch' our mice! When he entered my patio, he noticed the fallen willow tree and gigantic tree-sized ginger plant stalks. He kindly commented, "You have quite a mess here!" My husband was out of the country on a business trip, so I told John that I was about to call around to get on some wait-lists for tree removal. Our neighborhood had no electricity, and was surrounded with an overwhelming amount of debris. John volunteered to cut up the tree, and remove the large debris that I could not manage myself. When I could not find a saw, he even went out to the store to buy one so that he could do the job. At that point, Mayor White had urged extreme caution in venturing out on the streets - downed power lines and gigantic oak trees littered the streets. The signal lights did not work. Few stores were open.
John's kindness and the help that he gave me did more than help me restore some semblance of order to the ravaged area outside my house - John's spirit of service and community restored my hope that morning, too. Things never seemed so dark after the light of John's kindness shown in the aftermath of that terrifying storm.
I want you to know that John Middleton is a goodwill ambassador for your company, and his heart of gold is a brilliant reflection of Trutech, Inc. Because of John Middleton, I count myself as one of your loyal customers.
